Final 2006 President’s Letter

Booster Club,

The championship rings are ordered, the players are working hard in offseason, a new board is taking over and already working hard on the 2007 spring and summer calendar, and Coach Trimble and his Coaching Staff are putting in extra hours at football clinics.  It must be February!

Coach Trimble, the coaching staff and the players have moved into the Sharp Center and are getting great use of the new facilities.  The players love the new locker room and with the new weight room they are able to finish workouts in a shorter time frame, allowing more time on the field for agilities and creative and “fun” workouts designed by Coach Montgomery and Coach Maddox.   Needless to say the winter workouts have been very productive.

The 2007 Jenks Trojans are working hard as “CHAMPIONS ARE MADE IN THE OFFSEASON” and the 2007 Jenks Trojan Football Booster Club is in AWESOME hands.  No one is more organized and fun to work with than the new incoming President, Jim Ginther and more dedicated to success and hard working than his officers, Kevin Ray, Vice-President; Curtis Smith, Membership; Kim Williams, Secretary and Mike Lyles, Treasurer.  There is no better group to lead the Trojans into 2007!!!

God Bless & We Will Always Remember 76,
Darren Laptad, President

President Darren Laptad directs the 2006 Trojan Stomp in August 2006.

Mr. Laptad leaves his legacy during 2005 Booster Club picnic cooking hot dogs & hamburgers.
Something about the fire being really hot, a good reason to wear shorts. Keep reading.

2006 Car Wash in June. Notice the shorts in 80 degree weather. Keep reading.

Mr. Laptad  working with the helmet crew during the 2006 Jenks Union Backyard Bowl
in September with temperatures in the 90s.  Keep reading.

Only days after coordinating a snow shoveling party at Jenks Hunter Dwelley Stadium to remove 12" of snow so the team could practice,  Mr. Laptad is shown working the helmet crew prior to the 2006 Championship Game in December. With snow on the sidelines, temperatures in the high 20's and near zero wind chill, he is still in shorts and said it really was not that cold.

Easily found on the field as the only person in the stadium in shorts, Mr. Laptad, after the Championship game was over, still in shorts and still taking pictures of the crowd and the "76" signs he arranged for the fans to wave during the game.  Keep in mind his son Jake, a senior, just played his last high school football game and secured a football scholarship to Kansas, but he is still working as the Prez.  Mr. Laptad's legacy of wearing shorts in freezing weather is nothing compared to the leadership he provided to the JTFBC organization.  Never fear though, Mr. Laptad is still in the organization as the 2007 8th grade representative.

Thanks Darren...
